Prof. Dr. Makarim Wibisono, MA is the Indonesian Ambassador to the United Nations for the period 2004 - 2007. This graduate of a law degree from Gadjah Mada University has also held several positions such as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia for Guatemala, Nicaragua, Jamaica, and the Bahamas (1997 - 2001), Director General of Foreign Economic Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2000 - 2002) and Director General of Asia Pacific and Africa (2002 - 2004). He is also one of the figures who co-founded the Partnership for Governance Reform, a non-governmental organization committed to realizing good and sustainable governance in Indonesia.
